Hamas has released 17 hostages, including 13 Israelis and four foreigners, to the International Committee of the Red Cross following a brief disruption, according to Qatar’s foreign ministry, Reuters reports.
The hostage deal faced a temporary delay due to a dispute over aid supplies to northern Gaza, which was resolved through mediation by Qatar and Egypt. Israel is set to release 39 Palestinian civilians in return.
The deal involves a four-day ceasefire agreed between Hamas and Israel, where a total of 50 hostages are to be exchanged for 150 Palestinian prisoners. Israel said the truce would be extended for every additional 10 hostages released per day.
