A temporary ceasefire between Israeli and Hamas forces has taken effect in the Gaza Strip after 48 days of conflict, Reuters reports.
No major bombings or rocket attacks were reported, but both sides accused each other of sporadic violations.
The ceasefire involves the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas in exchange for Palestinian prisoners. The truce allowed for additional aid to flow into Gaza with Aid trucks entering from Egypt at the southern end, while Israel withdrew tanks from the northern end.
Despite the pause, both Hamas and Israel warned that the war was not over, with Hamas calling the truce temporary, and the Israeli military indicating that fighting would resume soon.
