Tesla Workers Strike in Sweden Over Collective Agreement

Tesla is facing labor strikes in Sweden as the Swedish trade union IF Metall, representing Tesla employees, demands a collective labor agreement, Insider reports.

IF Metall is seeking better working conditions for the approximately 120 employees at Tesla’s service facilities in Sweden and has announced a walkout due to the automaker’s refusal to accept a collective labor agreement.

Around 90% of Sweden’s employees are covered by collective agreements that allow labor conditions and wages to be negotiated between unions and companies.

Swedish dockworkers have also pledged support for the strikes, threatening to block deliveries of Teslas from being unloaded at major ports.

Tesla representatives have agreed to meet with the union to discuss the matter.
