The Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt has reopened for the first time after weeks of conflict between Israel and Palestinian militants, France 24 reports.
Egypt is preparing to evacuate around 7,000 people from over 60 nationalities. Egyptian officials said around 361 foreigners and dual nationals entered Egypt on Wednesday. Another 400 foreigners and 100 wounded are expected to cross on Thursday.
The conflict in Gaza, following the October 7 attacks which killed 1,400 Israelis, has resulted in nearly 8,800 Palestinian casualties, with two-thirds being women and children, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
