Former Vice President Mike Pence has announced the suspension of his presidential campaign at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s event in Las Vegas, AP News reports.
Pence is the first major candidate to withdraw from a race that’s been dominated by his former boss and rival, Donald Trump. Pence cited the uphill battle of his campaign, the struggle to raise funds and build significant support, but expressed no regrets.
Pence emphasized a pro-Israel stance and a warning against isolationism and populism in the Republican Party. He plans to stay active in politics through his think tank, Advancing American Freedom, and a forthcoming book.
