US President Joe Biden met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Israel, offering vocal support and addressing the urgent humanitarian situation in Gaza, AP News reports.
Biden expressed his commitment to stand with Israel while acknowledging the dire situation in Gaza, where over a million people have been displaced.
He compared the recent Hamas attack on Israel to the 9/11 attacks in the United States and acknowledged the need for justice.
However, he urged Israelis not to be consumed by rage, emphasizing that after 9/11, the US was enraged and made some mistakes in pursuit of justice.
Biden also secured an agreement with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi to reopen Egypt’s border crossing with Gaza and allow humanitarian aid to enter.
