Iranian Activist Narges Mohammadi Awarded Nobel Peace Prize

The 2023 Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded to jailed Iranian activist Narges Mohammadi for her advocacy for women’s rights, democracy, and against the death penalty, AP News reports.

Mohammadi, 51, has been imprisoned 13 times and convicted five times, in total she has been sentenced to 31 years in prison.

Despite multiple arrests and years behind bars, she has remained a leading figure in nationwide women-led protests in Iran.

Her brother and husband expressed their pride and determination to continue her struggle for human rights and democracy.
