US President Joe Biden is facing criticism from both Republicans and Democrats after his administration announced new border wall construction in Texas, BBC reports.
Biden’s administration also announced the resumption of deportations of illegal Venezuelan migrants, nearly 50,000 that arrived at the US-Mexico border in September.
Biden, who had campaigned on not building more wall, cited that the funding for this construction was signed off during the Trump administration.
Some 20 miles (32 km) of barriers will be built in a sparsely populated stretch of the Rio Grande Valley.
This move has received criticism from both major parties, environmental activists, and human rights groups.
