The 2023 Nobel Prize in Physics has been awarded to French-Swedish physicist Anne L’Huillier, French scientist Pierre Agostini, and Hungarian-born Ferenc Krausz, AP News reports.
The three scientists studied the ultra-fast movements of electrons within atoms, observing events on the scale of attoseconds (one quintillionth of a second).
Electrons move so fast that they have historically been impossible to isolate, their research has provided valuable insights into the fundamental behavior of electrons.
Their groundbreaking works in capturing fleeting electron movements are akin to photographing a hummingbird with a fast shutter speed.
