A New York judge has ruled that former President Donald Trump committed fraud while building his real estate empire, AP News reports.
Judge Arthur Engoron found that Trump deceived banks, insurers, and others by significantly overvaluing his assets and inflating his net worth in deals and loans.
The judge ordered the rescission of some of Trump’s business licenses in New York, making it difficult or impossible for them to operate in the state.
Engoron ordered an independent monitor to oversee Trump Organization operations and for some of Trump’s companies to be removed from his control and dissolved.
Trump plans to appeal the decision, calling it “un-American,” and part of a plot to undermine his presidential campaign.
