Canada’s House Speaker Resigns After Inviting Ukrainian Veteran with Nazi Ties to Parliament

Canada’s House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota resigned after inviting a man who fought for a Nazi military unit during World War II to Parliament, AP News reports.

Rota introduced Yaroslav Hunka as a war hero from the First Ukrainian Division and Lawmakers gave the 98-year-old a standing ovation.

However, it was later discovered that this division was also known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division, a voluntary unit under Nazi command.

Rota resigned following public outrage and criticism from opposition parties, acknowledging his error and accepting full responsibility for his actions.
