On Saturday, more than 10,000 climate activists in the Netherlands staged a protest on the A12 highway leading to The Hague, Reuters reports.
Extinction Rebellion, the organizer of the event, called for an end to government subsidies for the fossil fuel industry.
Police used water cannons to disperse the crowds and detained 2,400 protesters, including minors and elderly, no injuries were reported.
