North Korea has announced that it has developed a new submarine with nuclear attack capabilities, AP News reports.
The submarine, named “Hero Kim Kun Ok,” is designed to launch tactical nuclear weapons from underwater.
The exact number of missiles it can carry and fire was not specified, but the new submarine appears to have ten launch tubes.
The development of such submarines makes it harder to detect and preemptively target North Korea’s nuclear capabilities.
However, South Korean officials are skeptical of North Korea’s claims and believe the submarine may not be ready for operational duty.
