Former Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for his involvement in the US Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, AP News reports.
Tario was not present in Washington, D.C. during the storming of the US Capitol, but prosecutors alleged that he led the assault from a distance.
Prosecutors claim that he was the ringleader of the plot and Tarrio was convicted of seditious conspiracy and other crimes.
This marks the most severe punishment handed down so far related to the January 6th Capitol attack.
