Ukraine’s Zelensky to Replace Wartime Defense Minister

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced plans to replace his Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov, Reuters reports.

Zelensky intends to nominate Rustem Umerov, the head of Ukraine’s main privatization fund, as Reznikov’s replacement.

Reznikov has held the position of Defense Minister since November 2021 and has played a key role in securing Western military aid for Ukraine.

However, he has faced allegations of corruption within his ministry, including claims of inflated food contracts and corrupt procurement practices.
