Poland plans to deploy up to 10,000 additional troops to the border with Belarus to support the Border Guard, Reuters reports.
Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak stated that around 4,000 soldiers will directly support the Border Guard, while 6,000 will be held in reserve.
The decision follows concerns over the presence of Wagner mercenaries in Belarus and ongoing military exercises near the border.
Additionally, Poland has seen an increase in illegal border crossing attempts by migrants, mainly from the Middle East and Africa.
