The US has deployed two warships carrying over 3,000 military personnel to the Red Sea in response to Iran’s alleged seizure of several civilian ships, Al Jazeera reports.
The US military accuses Iran of attempting to control around 20 internationally-flagged ships in the region over the past two years.
The deployment aims at deterring destabilizing activities and de-escalating tensions caused by Iran’s actions.
Iran has criticized the US for exacerbating regional instability and asserted that Gulf nations are fully capable of ensuring their own security.
