The US Supreme Court has ruled 6-3 against President Joe Biden’s plan to cancel billions of dollars in student debt, BBC reports.
The proposal aimed to forgive around $10,000 per borrower and would impact more than 40 million Americans who hold student loans.
The Supreme Court’s ruling was based on the argument that the executive branch did not have the authority to broadly cancel student debt.
