Former Audi CEO Rupert Stadler has been given a suspended sentence of one year and nine months for his involvement in the 2015 diesel scandal, Reuters reports.
Stadler becomes the first former Volkswagen board member to receive such a sentence and was also fined €1.1 million ($1.20 million).
There are ongoing cases against former managers of Volkswagen and former Volkswagen head Martin Winterkorn, which is on hold due to health issues.
In 2015, parent company Volkswagen and Audi admitted to using illegal software to cheat on emissions tests.
