US Secretary of State Antony Blinken made a two-day visit to Beijing to stabilize the deteriorating US-China relations, AP News reports.
On Monday, Blinken met with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who expressed satisfaction with the progress made during the talks.
The two countries showed little flexibility on key issues such as trade, Taiwan, human rights, Hong Kong, South China Sea disputes, and the war in Ukraine.
Blinken highlighted the importance of military communications, but China refused to resume military-to-military communications.
However, both sides expressed willingness to hold more talks, which could pave the way for future meetings between Xi and US President Joe Biden.
