At Least 79 Dead After Migrant Boat Sinks in Greece

On Wednesday, at least 79 people drowned when a migrant boat capsized off the coast of Greece, Deutsche Welle reports.

The boat had taken off from Libya and its destination was Italy. The survivors come mainly from countries like Syria, Egypt and Pakistan.

The boat is estimated to have carried about 700 to 750 migrants onboard, according to the UN’s International Organization for Migration.

However, only 104 people have been rescued so far and Greek rescue authorities are continuing their search efforts.
