France Bans Short Domestic Flights to Reduce Carbon Emissions

France bans domestic short-haul flights where alternative train routes under two-and-a-half hours exist, BBC reports.

It includes flights from Paris to major cities such as Nantes, Lyon and Bordeaux. However, the ban does not apply to connecting flights.

Critics claim that “banning these trips will only have minimal effects” on CO2 output,” and that government should look for “real and significant solutions”.
