On Monday, 291 people were arrested and at least 108 police officers were injured during May Day protests in France, Al Jazeera reports.
Around 782.000 people protested across France, according to the interior ministry. However, the CGT union claim there were 2.3 million participants.
Protesters clashed with the police to vent their anger against President Emmanuel Macron, who recently raised the retirement age from 62 to 64.
Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin told reporters that one policeman had been hit by a Molotov cocktail and received burns to the face and hands.
