On Wednesday, Singapore executed Indian national Tangaraju Suppiah, 46, convicted of assisting in the smuggling of 1 kg of cannabis, The BBC reports.
Activists claim he had been convicted on inadequate evidence and received limited legal support during the trial.
The UN Human Rights Council called on Singapore to “urgently reconsider” the execution as capital punishment violates international norms.
Singapore has some of the world’s toughest anti-drug laws and authorities claim he received a fair trial.
