On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sacked his Defense Minister Yoav Gallant after he openly criticized Netanyahu’s judicial reforms, reports Al Jazeera.
The planned reforms would grant parliament the authority to override Supreme Court decisions with a basic majority and limit judicial review of laws.
“The state of Israel’s security has always been and will always be my life’s mission.”
– Yoav Gallant, Former Defense Minister of Israel
Over the last three months, tens of thousands of demonstrators have taken to the streets and spoken out against the proposal.
