On Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron invoked a special constitutional power to force through the controversial pension reform without a vote in the National Assembly, reports France 24.
The reform, which involves raising the retirement age from 62 to 64, has been widely unpopular and given rise to huge protests in the country.
After the announcement, far-right French politician Marine Le Pen called for a vote of no confidence against the government.
