On Tuesday, Facebook’s parent company Meta announced plans to lay off another 10,000 workers after more than 11,000 were notified as recently as November.
In a blog post, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that 2023 will be a “year of efficiency” and plans to “improve financial performance in a difficult environment”.
“Overall, we expect to reduce our team size by around 10,000 people and to close around 5,000 additional open roles that we haven’t yet hired.”
