Iran Says It’s Discovered World’s Second-Largest Lithium Deposit

Iran says it has discovered a massive lithium deposit – a key component in electric car batteries – in Hamedan province in the western parts of the country, reports CNBC.

Authorities estimate that the deposit holds 8.5 million tons of lithium. If the estimate is correct, the deposit would be the second largest in the world.

“For the first time in Iran, a lithium reserve has been discovered in Hamedan.”
