On Thursday, the Jan. 6 Committee released a 814-page report that provides an account of former President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.
The document outlines 11 recommendations for Congress to implement in order to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
The Committee calls for an investigation of whether individuals involved should be prevented from holding office under the Fourteenth Amendment.
“The Committee believes that those who took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and then, on January 6th, engaged in insurrection can appropriately be disqualified and barred from holding government office — whether federal or state, civilian or military.”

Other recommendations include combating violent extremism, increase security at congressional events and tougher penalties for threats against electoral workers.
It also recommends an overhaul of the Electoral Count Act to protect the popular vote and ensure that the Congress can not decide the outcome of presidential elections.
