Ukraine’s Zelenskyy Travels to US to Meet President Biden

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with President Joe Biden at the White House, his first trip outside Ukraine since the start of Russia’s invasion.

“The Ukrainian people continue to inspire the world, and I mean that sincerely. Not just inspire us, but inspire the world with their courage and how they have chosen resilience and resolve for their future.”

– Joe Biden, President of the United States

The visit came as the US Senate prepares to vote on a $45 billion bill to provide military and economic aid to Ukraine in the coming year.

The Biden administration hope that Zelenskyy’s visit will reaffirm Republican support for the aid packages after nearly a year of war.

“We’re going to continue to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to defend itself, particularly air defense. That’s why we’re going to be providing Ukraine with a Patriot missile battery, and training your forces to be able to accurately use it.”

– Joe Biden, President of the United States
