New Twitter owner Elon Musk has reinstated former US President Donald Trump’s Twitter account after a poll narrowly favored the ex-president’s return.
On Saturday, the poll closed after over 15 million votes were cast, resulting in a narrow majority of 51.8% in favor of reinstating Trump’s account.
At the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual leadership meeting, Trump was asked if he planned to return to Twitter, to which he replied “I don’t see any reason for it”.
He said he would rather stay with Truth Social, a social media platform developed by Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) startup.
Twitter banned Trump’s account which had more than 80 million followers after two of his tweets violated company’s policies, following the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.
