Chris Hemsworth is ‘Taking Time Off’ from Acting after Alzheimer’s Gene Discovery

Chris Hemsworth has decided to take a break from acting after discovering he’s genetically predisposed to develop Alzheimer’s disease, according to Vanity Fair.

“Now, when I finish this tour this week, I’m going home, and I’m going to have a good chunk of time off and just simplify. Be with the kids, be with my wife.”

While filming “Limitless”, Hemsworth was diagnosed by a doctor and learned he has a genetic predisposition for Alzheimer’s disease, a progressive disease that destroys memory and other mental functions.

The “Thor” actor’s DNA contains two copies of the APOE4 gene, raising his chance of developing the disease 8-10 times higher than the average person’s.
