HBO Cancels Sci-Fi Show ‘Westworld’ after 4 Seasons

On Friday, HBO announced the cancellation of its sci-fi series “Westworld” after four seasons, despite the show’s creators hoping to wrap it up in a final fifth season.

In 2014, “Westworld” premiered and was a major hit, becoming the most-watched freshman year of any HBO original series ever.

However, the initial success of the sci-fi show didn’t last, and ratings fell each subsequent season, with a dramatic drop in Season 4, which ended Aug. 14.

Co-creators Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan therefore sought to conclude “Westworld” after five seasons.
