Netflix has announced The Witcher Season 4, ahead of its third season. However, Henry Cavill is stepping down as Geralt of Rivia, and will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth.
“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.”
– Henry Cavill, October 29, 2022
“As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.”
– Liam Hemsworth, October 29, 2022
In 2018, Cavill a huge fan of The Witcher games and books was cast as Geralt. As a video game geek, he made a fantastic portrayal of Geralt.
However, a former producer claims some writers “actively disliked the books and games,” which has raised concerns on the direction of the show, and if that is the reason behind Cavill’s departure.
Earlier this week, Cavill announced that he’s returning to the role of Superman, after his cameo appearance in Black Adam.
“I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all the chance to watch Black Adam. Now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman.”
– Henry Cavill
