On Wednesday, French President Emmanuel Macron pledged to implement a pension reform that would raise the retirement age from 62 to 65.
“There’s only one way to do it if we are lucid. Since we are living longer, it’s to work longer.”

The minimum retirement age to get full a pension would gradually increase from 62 to 65 and would start being applied next year until 2031.
If these reforms are not implemented the government would have to reduce pension benefits, according to Macron.
The pension reform has sparked protests and most opposition parties, as well as workers unions, are opposed to the changes.
