Games of Thrones author George R.R. Martin revealed that his next book ‘The Winds of Winter’ is 75% done, in a live stream following the season finale of ‘House of The Dragon’.
“It’s a big book, I’ve said that before. It’s a challenging book. It’s probably gonna be a larger book than any of the previous volumes in the series. I think I’m about three-quarters of the way done, maybe, but that’s not 100 percent done so I have to continue working on it.”

Progress on ‘The Winds of Winter’ stalled following the release of HBO’s ‘A Game of Thrones’ television adaptation and the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the pandemic, GRRM shifted his focus to ‘Fire and Blood’, the base for HBO’s ‘House of Dragon’ television series.
However, the author now claims to have written “hundreds and hundreds” of pages for ‘The Winds of Winter’, but not enough to offer a date.
GRRM published his most recent novel ‘A Dance with Dragons’ over 11 years ago, part of his unfinished epic fantasy magnum opus ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’.
