US Supreme Court Rejects Request to Block Biden’s Student Loan Debt Forgiveness Program

On Thursday, the US Supreme Court dismissed an appeal to block the Biden administration’s student loan debt relief program.

The Brown County Taxpayers Association in Wisconsin sought to block the program and filed a federal lawsuit, but a US District Court rejected it.

On Wednesday, the group appealed the ruling to the 7th Circuit, asking the Supreme Court to suspend the program pending the outcome of the appeal.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett responsible for such applications issued from cases in the 7th Circuit US Court of Appeals, denied the emergency application.

Starting this weekend, the loan relief plan will cancel up to $20,000 in student debt for millions of borrowers.

Last weekend, the US Department of Education launched a beta test, receiving more than 8 million applications for the program.
