Netflix will charge $6.99 per month for its new advertising-supported tier in the US, which will be $1 less than Disney+ and Hulu with commercials.
The new tier will include an average of four to five minutes of commercials each hour, each ad will be 15 or 30 seconds long and will play before and during Netflix’s content.
Netflix’s $6.99 price is cheaper than Disney+’s (coming in December) and Hulu’s ad tier at $7.99 per month, and HBO Max with ads at $9.99 per month.
Video resolution for the new tier will be 720p rather than 1080p, and users will no longer be able to download movies and TV series.
The new tier will initially be available in:
– Nov. 1: Canada and Mexico
– Nov. 3: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, the UK and the US
– Nov. 10: Spain
