At the 2022 Code Conference, Apple CEO Tim Cook answered a journalist's question regarding Rich Communications Service (RCS) by suggesting they buy an iPhone.
When asked how Apple could improve RCS between iPhone and Android users, Cook said "I don't hear our users asking that we put a lot of energy into that."
When the journalist replied that he could not send certain videos to his Android-using mother, Cook joked "buy your mom an iPhone."
Android users are unhappy with the "green bubble" barrier seen by iPhone users when they receive a text message from an Android phone.
The green bubble controversy is mostly a US problem, as users in other countries typically use non-SMS apps like Telegram, WhatsApp, and Signal.
