Mark Zuckerberg Unveils New Metaverse Avatar

On Friday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared his new, boyish metaverse avatar on Instagram, after the previous version posted on Monday was mocked.
On Monday, Zuckerberg shared on Facebook that Horizon Worlds had launched in France and Spain, with an image of his avatar standing in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Social media users then began to mock the graphics and compare it to the 1990s video games like Zelda and Quake, and 2007's Second Life.

On Friday, Zuckerberg posted a new image of his avatar and admitted the previous avatar had been generated quickly to celebrate the launch in France and Spain.
Meta's move into the metaverse as an alternative face-to-face social interaction has often been called into question.

This year, Meta's stock has lost half of its value as Facebook's user base declines and growing concerns over the company's costly push into the metaverse.
