Following three days of violence, the Egypt-brokered ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip appears to be holding.
The violence began with attacks by Israel targeting the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) on sites in the Gaza Strip, and militants firing rockets into Israel.
Codenamed Breaking Dawn, Israel hit 170 PIJ targets, killing several high-ranking PIJ members and destroying tunnels and weapon storage sites.
Gaza fired about 1,100 rockets toward Israel, 200 landing inside the Palestinian enclave and 380 intercepted by air defense, according to the Israeli army.
The military did not specify what happened to the remainder of the rockets, they likely either fell in open areas or dispersed in the air.
After three days of fighting, 44 Palestinians were killed, including 15 children, and 311 were wounded, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
