Japanese Volcano Sakurajima Erupts Triggering Alert Level 5

On Sunday, Sakurajima, a volcano on the island of Kyushu in western Japan has erupted with the highest alert level of 5.
No damage has been reported but volcanic stones rained down up to 2.4 km away from the site, according to public television channel NHK.

The nearby Sendai Nuclear Power plant showed no signs of irregularity, according to the Japanese nuclear regulator.

The residents of the nearest city of Kagoshima around 3 km away, has not yet been ordered to evacuate.
Sakurajima is one of Japan's most active volcanoes, in 2019 it spewed ash 5.5 km high.
