The heads of UK and US security services have made a joint appearance to warn of the threat from China.
FBI director Christopher Wray claimed China was the "Biggest long-term threat to our economic and national security" and had interfered in recent elections.
MI5 head Ken McCallum revealed his organization had doubled its work against Chinese activity in the last three years and will be doubling it again.
In comparison to 2018, MI5 is currently conducting seven times as many investigations into the actions of the Chinese Communist Party.
In response, China Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian accuse British intelligence for attempting to "Hype up the China threat theory" and advised the head of MI5 to "Cast away imagined demons".
FBI's Wray said that China was learning "All kinds of lessons" from the Ukrainian conflict.
Wray warned a Chinese invasion of Taiwan would "represent one of the most terrible commercial upheavals the world has ever seen."
The economic disruption would be much greater, with western investments in China turning into "Hostages" and supply chains disrupted.
