On Friday, the US Supreme Court overturned the landmark Roe v. Wade case in a 5-4 decision, the 1973 ruling gave American women the right to terminate a pregnancy.
"The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives,"

- Justice Samuel Alito
The invalidation of Roe, gives individual states the power to enact their own abortion laws.

Following the Supreme Court's decision, almost half the states are expected to prohibit or severely restrict abortion.
